Our Process
While every client is unique and has different goals, we lead clients and start with a process, not a product. In my opinion, many aspects of the financial industry are trending towards behavioral finance. Similar to nutrition and fitness, personal finance is one of those things that is “easier said than done.”
As you work with the team, here is an outline of what to expect and some of the topics we may cover, depending on your individual situation.
An Introductory Meeting:
What motivated you to schedule this meeting? What are your financial goals? How did you view money growing up and how has that changed? In this meeting, I’d love to get to know you, answer any questions you have, walk you through the framework of our process and determine if we’d be a good mutual fit to work together.
Reviewing your Balance Sheet:
Here is where we’ll take an x-ray or inventory of where you stand today. With the help of our planning platform, The Living Balance Sheet, you’ll be able to see your complete financial picture in one screen, with the ability to aggregate accounts so that daily, you have an up to date financial snapshot on your smartphone or desktop.

Cash Flow:
How much should we be saving and investing? Where should we be allocating our wealth building dollars? Should we focus on paying off debt or building wealth? We’ll help you design a cash flow system that can help you save more than you thought possible without changing your lifestyle.
Protection:
“If something bad were to happen, are we going to be okay?” Here is where we’ll review and educate our clients on their property and casualty coverage, group benefits, their estate planning documents, life insurance, etc. The goal here isn’t to have every type of insurance under the sun, but to protect against catastrophic risk, “the big stuff” like a permanent loss of income.
Investing:
My personal favorite subject. Here is where we can answer questions such as:
- Where do returns really come from?
- Are we allocated appropriately based on our goals?
- What should we expect from a volatility standpoint?
Of course, there are many more aspects to what we do for our clients and how we lead them, but hopefully the framework above is a good reference and idea of how we might be able to help you and your family.
